All members of the South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club should be proud of their 2025 Gem Show that was held this last weekend (12-13th July).
Nearly 1200 patrons (adults) passed through the front gate on Saturday and Sunday, and the vast majority of the inside and outside stall holders were pleased with the financial end result.
A tremendous number of children accompanied their parents, which made the gem sorting and sand sifting very popular. The surprised look on the many adults’ and children’s faces was something to behold when they saw what was in the middle of their cut in half Mt Hay thunder egg. The free children’s face painting stand nearly always had a long queue of eager children.
The Gem Show is usually held in April each year, but the ground proved far too soft and soggy due to the quantity of rain that fell in the days leading up to the actual weekend, so the show had to be cancelled and postponed till July. The weather this time was exactly as we ordered, so the result proved very successful for everyone concerned. The very cold mornings (for us Queenslanders, anyway) did not deter the number of visitors we finally achieved. Date decisions will now need to be made for next year.
Congratulations to all those involved.

A small segment of the many very interested patrons.

Dad seems to be looking harder than his daughter!

Which stall do I go to now?

The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club members were always busy.

With a smile like that, you could not refuse!

A real team effort on this stand.

I am not going to write out their full name, so that Q.L.A.C.C.A. will do!

Now this is a gem worth keeping!

Choices! Choices!

There was no shortage of food with the Wondai Lions Club doing the honours.

I much prefer that one! How much is it?

There has got to be something in here somewhere!

Club members Amy and Greg are preparing for the show on the Friday before.
All the above provides a glimpse of what the 2025 South Burnett Gem Show is all about. It is surprising what a team effort can achieve. See you all next year!
